Range equity calculator

Good players think about the range of hands an opponent could hold, not one hand. Select a range on the 13×13 grid (or use a top-X% preset), pick your hand and an optional board, and the calculator shows your equity against that whole range, with combos that clash with your cards removed.

Building a range

Each square is one starting hand: pairs on the diagonal, suited hands above it and offsuit hands below. A pair has 6 combos, a suited hand 4 and an offsuit hand 12, so the counter shows both the number of hands and how much of all 1,326 combos your range covers.

The top-X% presets rank hands by all-in equity against one random hand, a simple and neutral way to build a starting range. Real opponents may play different hands, so adjust the grid to match what you see.

How equity is calculated

The calculator deals 30,000 run-outs. Each time it picks one combo from the range at random (after removing combos that use your cards or the board), completes the board and compares the two hands. Equity is wins plus half of ties, so results are accurate to about half a percentage point.

Frequently asked questions

What is a range in poker?

All the hands a player could hold in a given spot, based on their position and actions. Thinking in ranges stops you from guessing one exact hand.

What does top 10% mean?

The strongest hands that make up about 10% of all 1,326 starting combos, ranked here by equity against a random hand.

Why do some combos disappear when I add a board?

Cards can only be in one place. If you hold an ace, or one is on the board, there are fewer ace combos your opponent can have. This is called card removal, or blockers.

Can I use this during a game?

No. It is for study and hand review only. Many poker apps, including ClubGG, restrict real-time assistance.
