What does “4-bet” mean in poker?

Definition
4-bet: A re-raise over a 3-bet. Its ranges are narrow and usually weighted to premium hands.

Because pots get large quickly, 4-bets are usually made with very strong hands or with blockers such as an ace. Facing a 4-bet, most players continue only with their best hands.
