Floating works best against players who c-bet often but give up on the turn. You are using position rather than hand strength. It works poorly against opponents who keep firing, so choose spots where your call looks believable and you have some backup equity, such as an overcard or a backdoor draw.
Example: A player raises and c-bets on Q♦ 7♣ 3♠. You call on the button with A♥ 5♥. They check the turn and you bet to take the pot.
