What does “C-bet” mean in poker?

Definition
C-bet: A bet on the flop by the player who made the last raise before the flop.

The preflop raiser usually has the stronger range, so a c-bet uses that range advantage even when this particular hand missed. Small c-bets work well on dry boards. Bigger bets suit wet, coordinated boards.
Example: You raise with A♦ Q♣, get called, and bet one-third of the pot on a K♠ 7♦ 2♣ flop.
