What does “set” mean in poker?

Set: Three of a kind made with a pocket pair plus one matching card on the board.

A set is well disguised because only one of the three cards is visible. Three of a kind made with one hole card and a pair on the board is usually called trips. It is easier for opponents to spot, and your kicker matters more.
Example: You hold 7♣ 7♦ and the flop comes 7♠ K♥ 2♣. You have flopped a set of sevens.
